The sixth generation of the BMW 3 Series Sedan, the world’s bestselling premium car, sets new
benchmarks in terms of sporting prowess, elegance and comfort. The pioneering history of the 3
Series serves as inspiration for the new sports sedan, whose powerful styling represents a fresh interpretation and conscientious development of traditional BMW design cues.

The BMW 3 Series Sedan is the original in the compact sports sedan segment and over the years has come to symbolise the aesthetic appeal, dynamics and sporting capability of BMW.

Although the new BMW 3 Series has grown in all dimensions compared to its predecessor, it retains a perfect balance of sportiness and elegance. Its wide track (front + 37 mm, rear + 47 mm) particularly prominent, the car’s increased length (+ 93 mm) and augmented wheelbase (+ 50 mm) accentuates its sporting silhouette.

As in previous generations, the sedan’s dynamic proportions are shaped by the sweeping bonnet, short front overhang, long wheelbase and set-back greenhouse typical of BMW. Particularly striking is its wider
track and, as a result, more impressive on-the-road presence. The new BMW face, with flat headlights reaching along as far as the BMW kidney grille, emphasises the elegantly dynamic design of the new BMW 3 Series.

Powerfully taut surfaces with sweeping lines dominate the side view of the BMW 3 Series Sedan,
stretching the car visually and lending extra verve to its dynamic stance. The flanks of the car
are shaped by an eye-catching “double swage line” made up of two character lines running alongside each other. Together, they reinforce the dynamic wedge shape of the car’s flanks and create vivid light and shade effects below the swage line, which draw further attention to the car’s wide track.

The strong horizontal lines of the rear – including rear lights in customary BMW L-shaped design
positioned at the outer edges of the back end – accentuate the broad face of the wheels and lends visual emphasis to the car’s consummate road presence. Richly contrasting light surfaces give the rear end of the new BMW 3 Series Sedan a fresh dynamic flair, underlined by the interchanges between smoothly flowing surfaces, precise lines and defined edges.

Inside the new BMW 3 Series Sedan, the noticeable increase in space (a 93-millimetre increase
in length) enhances the elegant, sporty silhouette of the 3 Series. The rear passengers also gain from the car’s increased exterior dimensions and are welcomed by extra legroom inside the rear doors as they climb aboard. There is also 15 millimetres of additional knee room behind the front seats, while headroom is up by eight millimetres.

Within a classic BMW interior, the cockpit wraps around the driver with a typically BMW driver focus
and ensures that all important functions are within easy reach. The impressive ergonomics, highgrade
materials and consummate workmanship underline the premium ambience of every model in the range.

Positioned on the horizontally structured instrument panel, the freestanding standard-fitted iDrive
monitor with high-resolution display recalls the latest flatscreen televisions normally found in living rooms rather than cars. The monitor has no folding mechanism or binnacle, allowing the entire dashboard to retain its flat, smooth lines and giving the interior a lighter, more dynamic feel.

The new sedan offers 480 litres of boot capacity, 20 litres more than the outgoing model. An innovative
and practical solution allows extremely convenient access inside. If the optional Comfort
Access is specified, the boot can be opened hands-free and without needing to use a key: all
you need to do is move your foot around underneath the bumper to trigger the opening mechanism for the boot lid. The 40:20:40 split rear backrests offer unbeatable versatility concerning load.

The BMW 3 Series range is now also available in a trio of trim and equipment variants – the Sport
Line, Luxury Line and Modern Line. Each presents its own individual take on the character of the sports sedan, with exclusive, high-quality material combinations and unbeatable build quality underlining the premium ambience of the new range.

Drive and chassis technology have always been key areas of expertise for the brand, and agility
and driving dynamics remain outstanding attributes of the new BMW 3 Series Sedan. The new car belies its larger dimensions with a kerb weight 40 kilograms below that of its predecessor. In addition to the sports performance typical of the brand, the further enhanced levels of comfort on board the new 3 Series make a significant contribution to driving pleasure.

A longitudinally mounted engine, rear-wheel drive and 50:50 weight distribution are traditional 3 Series features which have characterised driving pleasure in every generation of the car. A choice of four refined, economical and muscular engines – all of which feature new BMW Twin Power Turbo technology – will be available for the new BMW 3 Series Sedan from launch. In addition to two further optimised diesel powerplants and the already successful six-cylinder petrol unit, customers can enjoy the talents of the new turbocharged fourcylinder variant in the BMW 328i.

BMW 328i with 2.0-litre displacement: its BMW TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder engine fronts a new generation of light and powerful petrol units which fit the new BMW 3 Series’ dynamic concept like a glove. The state-ofthe- art turbocharged powerplant develops 180 kW and peak torque of 350 Nm from as low down as 1,250 rpm, accelerating the BMW 3 Series from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. Average fuel consumption is just 6,4 litres per 100 kilometres.

The BMW 335i is a gift to six-inline fans: the BMW TwinPower Turbo straight-six petrol engine with 3.0-litre displacement develops peak output of 225 kW and maximum torque of 400 Nm at just 1,200 rpm, ensuring
that the new BMW 3 Series outstrips the performance of its predecessor, while undercutting its fuel consumption and emissions.

More economical and lower in pollutant emissions: the highout put BMW TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder diesel engine puts an even more efficient foot forward. The cutting-edge unit gives the BMW 320d 135 kW and 380 Nm
of torque and also powers the BMW 320d EfficientDynamics Edition. Here it combines peak output of 120 kW with average fuel consumption in the EU driving cycle of just 4,1 litres of diesel per 100 kilometres.

And finally, the first full-hybrid compact sports sedan will celebrate its premium segment premiere in autumn 2012. The new BMW ActiveHybrid 3 will see innovative BMW ActiveHybrid drive technology blend with the sporting character of the BMW 3 Series to dynamic and efficient effect.

BMW is the first carmaker to offer an eight-speed automatic gearbox in the premium mid-size segment. It can be specified in combination with any of the petrol and diesel engines in the range and links up with the Auto Start-Stop function that comes as standard. Compact and exceptionally efficient, it allows the new BMW 3 Series to match or outperform models fitted with the standard six-speed manual gearbox in terms of both fuel economy and emissions. The new eight-speed automatic brings together shift comfort, dynamic
performance and efficiency of the highest order, making it the perfect partner for the new sedan’s
dynamic potential.

As components of the BMW Efficient Dynamics technology line-up, the Auto Start- Stop function, Brake Energy
Regeneration, Optimum Shift Indicator and need-based operation of ancillary components (including a disengageable air conditioning compressor) also play their part in reducing fuel consumption. Added to which, the new Driving Experience Control switch not only offers Comfort, Sport and Sport + options, but
also ECO PRO mode, which gives all the models in the range the potential to further improve these figures. This switch helps drivers maximise fuel economy through their driving style, thereby enabling them to increase the distance they can travel between visits to the pumps. The same goes for the CO2-minimising BMW
320d EfficientDynamics Edition, whose peak output of 120 kW contrasts with average fuel consumption in the
EU driving cycle of 4.1 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of 109 g/km. BMW will add further cutting edge engines to the line-up in 2012, when the BMW ActiveHybrid 3 will also celebrate its premiere.

BMW ConnectedDrive offers an unmatched combination of driver assistance technology and mobility systems for the new BMW 3 Series range. A new arrival in the premium mid-size segment is the latest-generation full-colour Head-Up Display, which projects key information – in sharp resolution – onto the windscreen so it appears directly in the driver’s field of view. Also available is Surround View with Side View and
Top View, which gives a bird’s-eye perspective of the vehicle and the area around it.

BMW ConnectedDrive provides a constantly expanding range of driver assistance systems responding to the most diverse driving situations, ensuring even greater safety and assurance. In addition, a parking assistance system helps the driver to manoeuvre into parking spaces. Among the other assistance technology available under the BMW ConnectedDrive banner are Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function, the Lane Change Warning System and Lane Departure Warning System with camera-based Collision Warning
system, which are offered for the first time in a BMW 3 Series Sedan.

BMW ConnectedDrive meets the most advanced standards of infotainment: high-functionality interface technology enables the driver and passengers to make extensive use of external mobile phones and music players inside the new BMW 3 Series Sedan.

New Bluetooth office functions allow internet-based services such as weather, news etc.,
as well as calendar entries and text-based messages (SMS and e-mail), to be viewed in the Control Display
of the iDrive operating system and read out via the Text to Speech function.

Real-Time Traffic Information (RTTI) and special apps such as “BMW Connected” for using social networks are also available. An innovative comfort access function allowing hands-free opening of the boot lid and the
additional Active Protection occupant protection system are likewise included on the options list, as is Advanced eCall with automatic position finding from BMW Assist. In the event of an accident, this system gives the emergency services detailed information on the nature of the collision be fore they arrive at the
scene of the accident.

The new BMW 3 Series offers its passengers exceptional active and passive safety. Judicious selection
of materials, a high-strength structure and an intelligent lightweight design concept allow the body to meet the most exacting standards, and it teams up with highly efficient restraint systems to provide maximum occupant protection. At the same time, the lightweight construction of the new BMW 3 Series makes
a significant contribution to the efficiency and agility of the new sports sedan.

In addition, an extensive package of active safety components help the driver to avoid accidents or,
if a collision is unavoidable, to minimise its consequences. The same goes for the optimised
pedestrian protection systems. All in all, the flawlessly assembled overall concept of the new BMW 3 Series makes it an incredibly impressive proposition – not least in terms of safety.

The 3 Series is everything a sports sedan should be, and for years it has stood undisputed at the summit of the premium midsize segment. If there is such a thing as a quintessential BMW, it is without doubt the BMW 3 Series.

With its distinctive, stylish appearance
and its 4×4 SUV features, the 4008 is a modern response to the needs of all-terrain vehicle customers, in a very prominent market segment.

International launch

The world market of all-terrain SUVs has been growing strongly since 2005. In Russia, all terrain
vehicles have long been predominant and currently account for 20% of the market, the majority being vehicles in the compact SUV segment. However, in China and Western Europe the market share of the SUVs has reached 10%, covering a variety of expectations. In Europe, this market share of the SUVs in segments C and D is increasing to the detriment of the SUVs of the E segment.

In China, it is the attraction of the vehicle’s status that is sought after. In Europe, it fulfils the desire for distinctive multipurpose vehicles, compact and with an environmental impact comparable to that of a conventional saloon. Therefore, the 4008 is an ideal response to the changes in these markets. It
is a competitive vehicle serving the marque’s ambition in the international market.

Presented as a world première at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, 4008 will go on sale initially in
international markets from 2012 second quarter.

A complete range of all-terrain vehicles

With this new 4×4 SUV, Peugeot completes its range of vehicles suited to the various expectations
of all-terrain customers. With its strong personality, for the international destinations, the 4008 is aimed both at customers who already own an all-terrain vehicle and at those looking for an alternative to Saloons or MPVs, a vehicle synonymous with leisure.

In Europe, it is targeted more specifically at customers who appreciate a strong and dynamic
ability, with dimensions suited to multi-purpose use and efficient fuel economy. In addition to the
4007, as well as the 3008 and its recent HYbrid4 version, the 4008 fulfils the expectations of the different markets showing strong growth in the compact SUV segment.

A distinctive style

Born of the PSA – Mitsubishi partnership, the 4008 naturally has a strong Peugeot identity. The new stylistic codes of the marque are judiciously adapted, such as the floating grille and the feline design of the lamp units with visual signature: at the front, a line of LED daylight running lamps that complement
the headlamps and three red claws sculpted rear lamps.

The off-road character has been emphasised by adopting a vertical design of grille, including body sill protectors and prominent wheel arch protection trims to accommodate large wheels enhanced by the
sophisticated design of the wheel rims.

The almost-horizontal bonnet grooves and the style line – which extends to the rear wing where it descends again crossing the lamp – is a distinctive feature and appear to hollow out along the body side, accentuating the strong and dynamic aspect of the 4008.

Excellence and range enhancement

The work carried out by the design style team, down to the smallest detail, gives the 4008
high class elegance in line with its positioning. The exterior is, among other things, set off with
chromed components while the interior ambiance is enhanced by refined design, from the choice of materials like the soft texture fascia to the instrument panel visor and the lacquered black decoration of the centre console.

A glass panoramic roof provides extensive light for the occupants in the passenger compartment
and is supplemented with side LEDs for night/dark light illumination for reading.

With its particular style, strong and distinctive, the 4008 is firmly rooted in the world of the
compact SUV. Its features and its equipment – which include the Open & Go system, 18” alloy wheels, a touch screen navigation system and reverse camera – are a result of the Brand’s modernity and up-market
vision of all-terrain vehicles.

Multipurpose, comfortable SUV

The platform of the 4008, taken in part from the 4007, has been reduced in length by shorter
front and rear overhangs (-30cm in length). Its long wheelbase and its wide tracks have been retained to guarantee good occupant space in the front and rear.

These characteristics and its exterior dimensions – 4.34m long, 1.80m wide with a height of 1.63m – make the 4008 particularly versatile. Its compactness – a promise of true maneuverability – and its occupant space make it a vehicle suitable for everyday use, including in town, and for leisure journeys or holidays.

4×4 Transmission with electronic management

In the four-wheel drive version, the driver can select three transmission modes: “2WD” two wheel
drive, “4WD” four-wheel drive and “LOCK” locking of the four-wheel drive.

In the two four-wheel drive modes – 4WD and LOCK – the distribution of the torque between the front and the rear is managed electronically. In LOCK mode, the four-wheel drive transmission becomes permanent, with even greater distribution of torque to the rear wheels.

This type of transmission will represent more than 80% of sales of the 4008. Peugeot’s new 4×4 SUV will in fact only be offered in a 4×4 version in certain countries, including Europe.

The Engines

A range of performance engines has been adapted to the market. There will be four engines; two petrol and two HDi diesel engines. The 1.6l petrol engine has a maximum power output of 85 kW, producing maximum
torque of 152 Nm with a 5-speed manual. The 2.0l petrol engine’s maximum power output is 113 kW at 198 Nm – the 2.0l is either mated with a 5-speed manual transmission or CVT.

The 1.6l HDi FAP has a maximum output of 82 kW with a torque output between 270 Nm and 280 Nm with overboost 6-speed manual transmission. The 1.8l HDi FAP produces a power output of 110 kW and a maximum
torque of 300 Nm – this engine is mated with a 6-speed manual transmission. For Europe, the 4008 will be offered with the two HDi diesel engines. In the other countries, it will be marketed with the most appropriate power train(s).

With the 1.6l petrol and HDi diesel engines, the environmental performance of the 4008 is
among the best in the segment. The 4008 merits its status as a modern SUV and its place in the heart of our cities, just as much as a conventional Saloon.

The launch of the third generation Toyota Yaris adds a new chapter to the model’s ongoing success story.

The second generation Toyota Yaris is praised for its interior roominess, durability, versatility, engine
efficiency and ease of driving in the urban environment. The new Yaris will consolidate all the strengths of
the previous generation vehicle, while offering a more dynamic and sophisticated design execution, a
clear step-up in sensory quality, a segment breakthrough in affordable multimedia connectivity,
efficient powertrains, innovative transmission and the greater agility essential to urban driving.

Quality remains a key Toyota Yaris attribute. Further improving the built-in quality recently praised in the German 2011 TüV report, Toyota Motor Manufacturing France’s close involvement with suppliers from the very earliest stages of production will ensure that every component contributes to the overall quality of the vehicle. Positioned at the heart of the B-segment, the new Toyota Yaris delivers an ingenious combination of benefits. It meets the demands of both progressive, technology focused customers and more conventional users who place an emphasis on quality, practicality and, of course, value for money.

All the Clever Yaris DNA in a Dynamic Package…

Since the European launch of the first Toyota Yaris in 1999, each successive generation of
the car has been developed in accordance with the key concept: “compact outside while roomy
inside”. The Yaris quickly became nicknamed “Piccolo Genio” (little genius) – a testament to the
packaging ingenuity of the first two generations of the car.

With an average car length of 4 meters in the B-segment, the new Yaris remains one of the most compact vehicles in its class. This is reflected in a class-leading turning circle of just 4.7 metres, which makes the new Toyota Yaris particularly agile during city driving. The height of the new Yaris has decreased by 20 mm to 1,510 mm, giving the car a lower centre of gravity and a more sporting stance. Within its well proportioned form, the wheelbase has been extended by 50 mm.

The bold frontal treatment identifies the Toyota Yaris as the first vehicle to feature the new face of the next generation Toyota family. Key to the new frontal styling is a change in the proportions of the upper and lower grilles, with the emphasis now placed on enlarging the latter. Elegantly sculpted to highlight the Toyota badge, a full-width concave shaped upper grille is flanked by new, horizontal ‘long eye’-look
headlights. Their slim design incorporates dual lamps and, on some grades, smoke-plated
‘eyebrows’ to emphasise the new Yaris’ bolder, more horizontal front styling.

Within the lower bumper, a strong, protruding centre section houses a large air intake to focus attention
on the bottom half of the vehicle, reinforcing the low centre of gravity and giving the Toyota Yaris a more
ground-hugging appearance. Whilst maintaining the model’s classic ‘Y’ pattern graphic, these new frontal
styling elements give the Toyota Yaris a bolder, more masculine appearance.

In profile, the dynamism of the vehicle is reinforced by the more prominent design of the steeply
sloped beltline which has been a key styling cue for each generation of Yaris.

The base of the A pillar has been moved forwards to strengthen the Toyota Yaris’ stylish, cab-forward
silhouette. The resultant increase in windscreen rake helps improve the vehicle’s drag coefficient to a classleading Cd 0.287.

The third generation Toyota Yaris features new 15” and 16” alloy wheel designs, and will be available in a choice of 10 exterior colours. Bringing a more colourful palette to the Yaris, five colours are newly
adopted by the model range, while Gin Buck and Turquoise are newly developed.

The Interior…

Quality, Roominess & Comfort

The key interior design goal for the new Toyota Yaris was to create a more driver-focused cockpit with
a symmetrical layout. The driver’s and front passenger’s spaces are clearly divided, emphasising a new focus on the driver ergonomics.

Incorporating strong horizontal lines to create a feeling of width, the dashboard is dominated by a
sculpted, soft-padded section which flows away from the driver’s space into matching, upper door panel
pads, heightening the sense of interior spaciousness.

Dashboard and door pad colour is matched to seat upholstery inserts according to the grade structure,
reinforcing the high-quality feel of the interior.

Further enhancing driver comfort, the three-spoke, stitched leather steering wheel has a new, more
comfortable grip cross-section, the steering column rake has been lowered by 3 degrees to deliver a
more engaging driver position and driver’s seat vertical adjustability has been increased by 15 mm to
a maximum 60 mm. A driver’s seat armrest is also available for greater comfort.

Despite its compact exterior dimensions, passenger accommodation aboard the new Toyota Yaris has not been
compromised. Wheelbase length has been increased by 50 mm and interior width by 30 mm. This, allied to the incremental saving of space through careful detailing throughout the interior, makes the new Yaris one of the roomiest vehicles in its segment.

Without compromise to either comfort or safety, both front and rear seatbacks, as well as the
tailgate, have been thinned to maximise roominess throughout. Overall luggage capacity within the two-tier loadspace has been raised to 286 litres, rising as the 60:40 split rear seats are folded flat. The tailgate opening has been widened by 20 mm for greater convenience.

The spaciousness and high sensory quality of the new interior is further reinforced through the Toyota Yaris’ large, all-glass panoramic sunroof. The structure is separated into front and rear sections allowing more flexibility for front and rear occupant to open or close, each fitted with a 20% light transmittance roller shade.

Efficient, lightweight engines
and innovative transmission

Continuing the successful mix of powertrains featured in the previous generation model range, the new Toyota Yaris will be available with a choice of three engines; 1.0 and 1.33 litre VVT-i petrol engines and a 1.4 litre D-4D turbodiesel. All three engines benefit from the application of Toyota Optimal Drive, a range of engineering measures designed to maximise performance and driving enjoyment while minimising fuel
consumption and CO2 emissions.

A marvel of miniaturisation, Toyota’s 3-cylinder, 1.0 litre VVT-i petrol engine led the trend for
powertrain downsizing. To this day it remains a reference for compact, efficient engineering. The lightest unit in its class, it has won successive Engine of the Year awards in the sub-1.0 litre category.

Mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, the latest version of the 998 cc unit generates 69 DIN hp at 6,000 rpm and maximum torque of 93 Nm at 3,600 rpm. Fuel consumption has been lowered by 4% to 4.8 l/100 km, and CO2 emissions lowered by 7% to only 110 g/km, making it the ideal engine for the shorter journeys of urban-based Yaris drivers.

A 1.33 Dual VVT-i petrol unit is available for customers requiring an engine with more power and
torque. The engine is lightweight and compact, with a small bore and long stroke, resulting in a very high
power-to-weight ratio. It combines strong dynamic performance, generating a 99 DIN hp at 6,000
rpm and, via a smoothened torque curve, a maximum 125 Nm at 4,000 rpm. When mated to the
new Multidrive S transmission, fuel economy is just 5.1 l/100 km and CO2 emissions are at 118 g/km.

The 1.33 litre petrol engine’s optional new Multidrive S transmission showcases Toyota’s latest Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) technology. It now features a new manual override, sequential, 7-step mode operable by either the gearshift lever or steering wheel-mounted paddles. Engaging the Multidrive
S Sport mode brings a closer alignment of engine and vehicle speeds, giving a more linear feel to acceleration in the manner of a conventional manual transmission.

Toyota Yaris models fitted with the 1.33 litre Dual VVT-I petrol engine may be equipped with an
improved version of Toyota’s Stop & Start system. Available in specific markets, the system now features
a longer engine shut off time and will operate through a wider temperature range.

Finally, for customers who wish to combine strong performance with high mileage driving, a 1.4-litre D-4D diesel engine is available, fitted as standard, with a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF).
Equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, it generates 90 DIN hp at 3,800 rpm and maximum torque of 205 Nm at 1,800-2,800 rpm. Fuel consumption has been lowered by 7% to 3.9 l/100 km and CO2 by 6% to just 103 g/km.

Available as an option on 1.4 D-4D diesel versions of the new Yaris, MultiMode is an automated
manual transmission with a fully automatic shift mode and no clutch pedal. It offers the driver a choice
of two, fully automatic gear change modes or a manual, sequential gear change with steering wheelmounted
shift paddles.

The Toyota Yaris

The new Toyota Yaris model range will be available in a choice of four grades – Entry, Active, Style and
Lounge. Tailored to offer a stronger differentiation between them, each grade will offer customers a unique
style and character, with dedicated interior zones for personalisation.

Offering outstanding value for money, with a high level of interior refinement and an extremely generous standard equipment specification, the Active grade features soft touch dashboard and door panel trim, gun metal inserts, steering wheel-mounted audio and Bluetooth switchgear, driver’s seat height adjustment, silver stitching to the leather steering wheel and gear lever surround. Manual airconditioning is fitted as standard. With seven airbags, ABS and VSC, the Active grade also offers customers the highest levels of
safety.

Other grades include features such as a stiffer suspension set-up, 16” alloy wheels, front fog lamps with
chrome surrounds and an integral rear spoiler, to name a few. The Lounge grade has been tailored
to appeal to both existing Yaris owners and those downsizing from the C-segment.

Reflecting today’s highly connected society, on-board multimedia systems are in increasing demand
by customers of every automotive segment. Toyota Touch is a 6.1 inch, full colour, touch screen
interface which represents a new approach to affordable, onboard multimedia systems. It
incorporates AM/FM radio, a CD/ MP3 player, Bluetooth mobile phone connectivity with a music
streaming facility and automatic phonebook synchronisation at each connection. A USB port allows for
the connection of portable music players, with the facility to display iTunes album cover art.

On-screen vehicle information displays include remaining fuel range, instant fuel consumption,
average fuel consumption per minute over the last 15 minutes and time elapsed since last engine start. The system is available in French, English, German, Italian, Spanish, Dutch and Russian. In addition, the system incorporates a rear view camera fitted as standard. The image is displayed on the Toyota Touch screen when reverse gear is engaged, to assist with parking manoeuvres.

Building on the Toyota Touch multimedia base unit, Toyota Touch & Go equips the new
Toyota Yaris with a navigation system representing the best value for money on the market. The system includes all the most popular navigation functions, such as advanced traffic coverage, customisable speed limits, speed camera warnings and motorway signposting. In addition, it not only offers drivers a choice of the fastest or shortest route to their destination, but also the one with the smallest environmental impact – an ‘Ecological’ route option.

Several Touch & Go Apps will be available for download from launch, such as fuel price, weather and
parking space information. Toyota Touch & Go has been designed specifically to be
both flexible and affordable. The system can be up-dated with the newest functions or latest maps,
as they become available.

Carefully tailored to enhance onboard comfort and convenience, a number of upgrade Option Packs offer Yaris
customers exceptional value for money. Measures fundamental to the Toyota culture of continuous improvement have been taken to ensure that the new Toyota Yaris offers customers the highest levels of built-in quality in the B-segment.

Exciting design, ultimate performance and ground-breaking efficiency: this is what the new
Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG is all about. The top-of-the-range version of the four-door coupé is
equipped with the newly developed AMG V8 biturbo engine, featuring a peak output of up to 410 kW
and 800 Nm of torque (with AMG Performance Package), as well as the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed
sports transmission.

On top of this, the vehicle’s fuel consumption of 9.9 litres per 100 km (NEDC) is improved by 32
percent (4.6 litres) compared with the previous model, representing a quantum leap forward. The NEDC
fuel consumption of 9.9 litres per 100 km equates to a CO2 output of 231 g/km. Thanks to these
figures, the new V8 Coupé from AMG not only undercuts all of its direct competitors in the four-door
high-performance coupé segment, but is also more fuel efficient than significantly lower-powered vehicles.
Both performance variants have identical fuel consumption and CO2 figures.

An important contribution towards achieving the unrivalled consumption figures has been made by the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission, a component used exclusively at Mercedes-AMG. Unlike a
conventional automatic transmission, the MCT transmission does away with the torque converter; instead,
it makes use of a compact, wet start-up clutch.

The combination of an AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension with electronically controlled damping
system and new front axle, newly developed electro mechanical AMG sports parameter steering, is
synonymous with maximum driving dynamics. It automatically adjusts the damping characteristics depending
on the driving conditions and reduces the roll angle of the body. The result: lightning-fast adjustment
between optimum driving comfort and the best possible agility.

Good contact with the road, meanwhile, is provided courtesy of the titanium grey-painted, high-sheen
AMG light-alloy wheels featuring a new triple-spoke design and fitted with 255/35 R 19 tyres on the front
and 285/30 R 19 tyres on the rear.

The highest level of engineering is also reflected in the body of the new CLS 63 AMG: the intelligent
lightweight construction makes a significant contribution towards addressing the classic conflicting
goals of low weight and high strength.

Visually, the CLS 63 AMG impresses with its athletic appearance and distinctive exterior and interior
design. The model’s standard specification also includes innovative LED High Performance headlamps. The headlamps, with their 71 LED lamps in total, underline the unmistakable appearance of the CLS 63 AMG. The light specialists from Mercedes-Benz have for the first time been able to use LED technology in the Adaptive Highbeam Assist, resulting in an entirely new level of safety when driving at night.

When viewed from the front, the new CLS 63 AMG stirs emotions – the radiator grille in particular, with
its large Mercedes star and wingshaped horizontal slats is inspiring. The top-of-the-range AMG model
distinguishes itself from the other CLS variants with its distinctive bonnet, wider mudguards with “V8 BITURBO” logo and a specific AMG front apron with black painted cross member. Eye-catching features
at the rear include the diffuser insert, the AMG spoiler lip on the boot lid, the AMG sports exhaust
system with dual twin chrome tailpipes and integrated rear foglamp. The AMG bodystyling perfectly
matches the typical CLS outline, which is essentially characterised by the elegantly long proportions,
the lateral dropping line and the muscular sports car-like shoulder line above the rear axle.

The exclusive atmosphere continues through consistently into the interior. All of the AMG-specific
design and appointment features ideally supplement the redesigned CLS interior. The wrap-around effect
in the cockpit, with its high line which sweeps from the driver’s door over the instrument panel support
and across to the front passenger door, is generously flanked by high quality trim elements – available in
black piano lacquer as standard in the top-of-the-range AMG model. Quality materials and workmanship
meet the very highest of standards and help to guarantee a particularly exclusive atmosphere. The extensive
range of standard appointments also includes AMG sports seats in nappa leather, a new three-spoke
AMG Performance steering wheel with aluminium shift paddles and flattened top and bottom sections
and the AMG DRIVE UNIT with compact E-SELECT selector lever.

More than ten driving assistance systems on the new CLS help to prevent traffic accidents and
reduce the severity of an accident. These systems, most standard and some optional, include Active
Parking Assist, Ambient lighting, COMAND APS multimedia system, Media interface, Night View Assist
Plus, Reversing camera and a Lane Tracking package. The Active Blind Spot Assist and the Active Lane
Keeping Assist are new.

One of the highlights of the attractive optional extras is the AMG Performance package which
is available for the CLS 63 AMG. It has an increase in the peak output of 24 kW and in the maximum
torque of 100 Nm. Other features include a genuine carbon fibre AMG engine cover, a genuine carbon
fibre AMG spoiler lip on the boot lid, red-painted brake callipers and AMG Performance steering wheel
with Alcantara® inserts in the grip areas. The AMG performance package is available as an option at
an additional cost of R82 000.

With the AMG driver’s package, customers’ can have the Vmax increased to 300 km/h at a cost of R34 000.

Also available is the special limited “Edition 1” version of the CLS 63 AMG. Finished in the new manganite grey SHAPE matt paint, the “Edition 1” features a host of specially designed high-quality interior details. On opening the doors, the first items to catch the eye are the AMG sports seats: the “corteccia pearl” designo leather is characterised by a shimmering metallic surface finish.
The roof lining, A, B and C-pillars, as well as the sunblinds, are finished in anthracite Alcantara®, while
carbon fibre/black piano lacquer AMG trim elements help to give the interior a functional atmosphere.
Also making a perfect match for the designo leather seats are the designo floormats in black velour,
featuring designo badge and designo leather insert in “corteccia pearl”. The Edition 1 package is available as an option at a cost of R100 000.

“The new CLS 63 AMG continues the success story of the previous models, the CLS 55 AMG and CLS
63 AMG, which have delighted our customers all around the world since 2004,” says Eckart Mayer,
Vice President, Sales & Marketing Passenger Cars, Mercedes-Benz South Africa. “The CLS 63 AMG
is a unique high-performance car – it sets new standards in design, performance and efficiency.”

As with the S 63 AMG and CL 63 AMG, drivers of the CLS 63 AMG will benefit from an eight-cylinder
powerhouse, designated internally as the M 157: the new AMG 5.5-litre V8 biturbo engine boasts a combination of innovative high-tech components which, in addition to spray-guided direct petrol injection
with piezo injectors, also include a full aluminium crankcase, fourvalve technology with camshaft
adjustment, air/water intercooling, generator management and start / stop system.

The weight-optimized AMG sports exhaust system with dual twin chrome tailpipes ensures a
distinctive engine sound. With a displacement of 5461 cc, the eightcylinder engine develops a peak output of 386 kW and torque of 700 Nm. In conjunction with the AMG Performance package, these figures
increase to 410 kW and 800 Nm. Both variants of the CLS 63 AMG achieve exceptional performance:
acceleration from zero to 100 km/h takes 4.4 and 4.3 seconds respectively, and the top speed
is 250 km/h (electronically limited).

The major difference between both power units is the increase in the maximum charge-air pressure from 1.0 to 1.3 bar. In addition, the CLS 63 AMG with the AMG Performance package features a special high-quality genuine carbon fibre engine cover.

The CLS 63 AMG with standard MobiloDrive 120 which includes a 6-year / 120 000 km maintenance
contract and a 2-year/unlimited km warranty, as with all Mercedes-Benz passenger cars, retails at R1 319 500.

When the first Chevrolet was built in 1911 in a rented garage near downtown Detroit, it began a journey
that has taken Chevrolet to every corner of the planet. A hundred years and more than 209 million cars and trucks later, Chevrolet is one of the world’s largest car brands, doing business in more than 140 countries.

“We have great plans for Chevrolet’s next 100 years,” said Chris Perry, vice president, global marketing and strategy for Chevrolet. “Chevrolet starts its second century with its best product lineup ever and strong growth in major markets in Asia, Europe and South America.

“Our goal is to build on the foundation laid in our first hundred years to make Chevrolet a hometown brand in home towns around the world,” said Perry.

Global mainstream brand

Chevrolet is becoming GM’s global mainstream brand, the foundation of the company’s business in most major markets. In recent years, Chevrolet has expanded from its traditional markets in North and South America, and its list of Top 10 markets now includes China, Russia, Uzbekistan and India.

Chevrolet today sells more than 60 percent of its vehicles outside the United States. Last year, Chevrolet sold a record 4.26 million cars and trucks, and was the only Top Five global auto brand to grow
its market share. This year, Chevrolet is on track to post its best sales in its 100- year history.

Enhancing life’s journey

“Like many of the strongest global brands, Chevrolet is founded in American values that are admired
around the world,” said Perry. “Chevrolets are built to enhance everyday life, and to enable people to do
more and experience more as they travel through their life’s journey.”

Chevrolet’s deep roots in American culture resonate with many customers around the world, who share the belief that getting behind the wheel is as much about the drive as it is about the destination. This emotional connection between Chevrolet and its customers is so deep that more than 700 popular songs and dozens of films include Chevrolet in some way.

New global products fuel growth

New, globally designed-and-produced models are behind Chevrolet’s record growth. For example, the Chevrolet Cruze is on pace this year to mark 1 million in total sales since its launch. Cruze went on sale in the United States last year, and is now the nation’s bestselling compact car, surpassing all Asian,
European and U.S. competitors.

An all-new Malibu sedan will launch this fall in South Korea, along with a global midsize Colorado pickup in Thailand. An all-new Sonic subcompact (Aveo in global markets) goes on sale this fall in
the United States, followed by the Spark mini-car in 2012.

Chevrolet was founded on building affordable cars and trucks with style, value and features not offered by competitors. For example, in 1955, Chevrolet re-engineered the V-8 engine in a way that made performance
accessible to millions of new customers. The result was the small-block V-8, named by WardsAuto as one of the 10 Best Engines of the 20th Century.

This spirit of innovation continues today. A new Malibu Eco model will include e-Assist technology that improves fuel economy by approximately 25 %. Last year, the first Chevrolet Volt extended range electric vehicle rolled off an assembly line near Detroit, combining electric power and a small rangeextending
gas engine. The Volt and Malibu are part of Chevrolet’s global electrification strategy to reduce
petroleum use and vehicle emissions.

Chevrolet was created in 1911 by auto pioneer and industrialist and William C. Durant and Swiss-born race car driver Louis Chevrolet. Durant believed Chevrolet should produce cars offering more style and value than the volume leaders of the time, most notably the Model T.

“Although both men had left GM by 1920, Chevrolet has stayed true to this vision,” said Perry. “Chevrolet’s global presence as it enters its second century is a monument to its founders and to the many others who have made Chevrolet one of the world’s great car brands.”

Fast Facts:

Chevrolet sold 4.26 million vehicles
globally in 2010.

That averages to one Chevrolet sold
every 7.4 seconds.

Chevrolet’s top five global markets in
2010 were, in order: the United
States, Brazil, China, Canada and
Uzbekistan.

More than 60 percent of Chevrolet
sales in 2010 were outside the Unites
States.

Chevrolet has sold more than 209
million vehicles in the past 100 years.

2011 is on track to be Chevrolet’s
best sales year ever.

BMW takes the development of intelligent hybrid drive systems to the next level with the introduction of the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 – another seriesproduced model in which a combustion engine and electric motor join forces to enhance both efficiency and the brand’s hallmark driving pleasure.

The BMW ActiveHybrid 5 brings together a BMW TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder in-line engine, an electric drive system and an eight-speed automatic gearbox for the first time. The latest generation of BMW ActiveHybrid technology also adds precisely controlled – and therefore extremely effective – energy management to the mix.

All of which gives the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 an exceptional balance of performance and fuel economy for the premium executive car class. Its drive system generates combined output of 250 kW, allows the car to be driven on electric power alone up to 60 km/h, accelerates the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, limits average fuel consumption to between 6.4 and 7.0 litres per 100 kilometres and has CO2 emissions of just 149 – 163 grams per kilometre (figures according to EU test cycle, may vary according to the tyre format specified).

This is the first time that a six-cylinder in-line engine has been included as part of a BMW ActiveHybrid system. The 3.0-litre petrol unit, which develops 225 kW and peak torque of 400 Nm, represents
a passport to increased driving pleasure and efficiency. The BMW TwinPower Turbo technology of the six-cylinder engine, which has already won the international Engine of the Year Award two years in succession, comprises a twin-scroll turbocharger, High Precision Direct Injection and VALVETRONIC variable valve timing.

The six-cylinder in-line engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology in the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 is the same unit renowned for its free-revving capability, pulling power and efficiency in the BMW 535i. The electric motor, meanwhile, develops 40 kW and is supplied with energy by a highperformance lithium-ion battery
integrated into the luggage area.

A harmonious blend of power from the two drive systems is transferred to the rear wheels
by the eight-speed automatic gearbox. In addition to its fullhybrid construction, which enables purely electric and therefore emission-free driving in urban conditions, the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 boasts not only
the sportiest performance in its market segment but also a double-digit percentage improvement in fuel economy over the BMW 535i.

In order to fully exploit the potential of the BMW ActiveHybrid technology, the intelligent energy management of the power electronics in the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 uses a host of innovative functions to
ensure the drive system runs efficiently.

The lithium-ion highperformance battery is charged when the car is coasting or braking, the electric motor performing the role of a generator feeding energy into the high-voltage battery. By contrast, under acceleration the electric motor takes on a boost function. Here, it assists the petrol engine
by generating an ultra-dynamic burst of power, lending the sedan’s sporty driving experience a noticeably
sharper edge. Added to which, while coasting at speeds of up to 160 km/h in ECO PRO mode, the combustion engine can be switched off and fully decoupled. This coasting mode combines comfortable driving with optimum utilisation of the kinetic energy already generated. To avoid periods with the engine
running at idle – at junctions or in traffic tailbacks, for example – the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 is equipped with a hybrid start-stop function.

Plus, the power electronics in the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 are linked up with the standard-fitted navigation system Professional. This allows forwardlooking analysis of the driving situation, enabling the drive
components to be primed to deliver maximum efficiency (the effect may vary according to the quality of the available navigation data).

All the hybrid-specific components of the drive technology and energy management systems have been developed specially for use in the BMW ActiveHybrid 5. The result is an extremely wellrounded overall concept, which also provides a convincing demonstration of the BMW ActiveHybrid technology’s qualities out on the road.

The BMW ActiveHybrid 5 sees the sporty yet elegant body design of the BMW 5 Series Sedan complemented
by bespoke touches which highlight the identity of its drive technology. The “ActiveHybrid 5” lettering on the C-pillars, BMW kidney grille with galvanised slats and exhaust matt chrome tailpipes set the exterior apart from the other models in the range. 18-inch Streamline light-alloy wheels displaying exceptional
aerodynamic efficiency are available as an option. The BMW ActiveHybrid 5 is the only model in the BMW 5 Series line-up to be available in the exterior paint shade Bluewater metallic, visually standing out
from all other 5 Series variants with door sill strips bearing “ActiveHybrid 5” lettering, an aluminium plate on the centre console with the same ID, a bespoke engine cover and the visible “ActiveHybrid Power
Unit” inscription on the special casing for the high-performance battery accommodated in the luggage area.

The selection of interior colours, upholstery and interior trim elements reflect the range offered for the other BMW 5 Series Sedan variants. Added to the standard-fitted array of comfort-enhancing features
is not only the navigation system Professional, but also a 4-zone climate control system with stationary air conditioning. A wide range of driver assistance systems and BMW ConnectedDrive mobility services, as well as virtually all the other optional extras available for the conventionally powered BMW 5 Series Sedan
can be specified for the BMW ActiveHybrid 5.

The chassis specifications of the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 include a double-wishbone front axle and integral rear axle, electromechanical power steering including the Servotronic speed-sensitive power assist function, a highperformance brake system and 17-inch alloy wheels. Dynamic Damper Control, featuring
electronically controlled damping, is optionally available.

The Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system, which stabilises the vehicle by applying braking
pressure and reducing engine power, also incorporates functions such as Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), Brake Assist, Fading Compensation, a Dry Braking function and Start-Off Assistant.

The hybrid-specific safety features, which protect the lithium-ion high-voltage battery and the power electronics, are integrated in the BMW 5 Series’ elaborate integrated active and passive safety concept. In a collision, highstrength structural components and large deformation zones help to keep impact forces away from the passenger cell and also from the hybrid drive components. Other standard safety systems on the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 include front and side airbags, side curtain head airbags for both rows of seats, three-point inertia-reel belts on all seats, belt force limiters and belt latch tensioners on the front seats and ISOFIX child seat attachments in the rear.

In the BMW ActiveHybrid 5, too, the standard-fitted Driving Experience Control switch offers not only Sport+, Sport and Comfort set-ups (as well as Comfort+ mode if the optional Dynamic Damper Control is
specified), but also ECO PRO mode. The latter supports a particularly relaxed and fuelefficient driving style, and makes more frequent use of allelectric mode. As an alternative to the standard-fitted automatic
transmission, a sports automatic with faster shift times is optionally available.

BMW ConnectedDrive systems optionally available for the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 include Park Distance Control, a rearview camera, Surround View, Adaptive Headlights, High- Beam Assistant, Speed Limit Info, BMW Parking Assistant, Lane Change Warning, Lane Departure Warning, BMW Night Vision with pedestrian recognition and the BMW Head-Up Display. Innovative technologies also allow in-car integration of the Apple iPhone,
other smartphones and music players, and use of the Real- Time Traffic Information and Apps functions.

To further enhance comfort and individuality, the standardspecification 4-zone automatic climate control and navigation system Professional can be supplemented by options such as active seats, active seat ventilation, Comfort Access, the Smart Opener for the tailgate, the Soft Close Automatic function for the doors, a poweroperated glass roof and high-end audio and rear entertainment systems.

The BMW ActiveHybrid 5 features newly developed hybrid components that are combined for the first time
with a six-cylinder BMW TwinPower Turbo engine, and innovative functions for further improved
efficiency and driving enjoyment. At the same time it broaches yet another market segment, taking BMW’s
hybrid development work a further step forward. As always, BMW ActiveHybrid technology is offered in a form which is optimally adapted to the requirements of the particular vehicle concept and market segment.

The new 159 is designed to express a sporting yet seductive personality and boasts road holding and performance that set new standards for this class of car. The Alfa Romeo 159 is an exclusive sedan combining refined Italian style with the “elegant sportiness” of Alfa Romeo.

The elegantly seductive 159 sedan is a compact executive and in relaunching this model, Alfa Romeo
SA is striking right at the heart of the competitive D segment.

Oscar Rivoli, Managing Director of Fiat Group Automobiles South Africa, states that: “Alfa Romeo has always been an evocative nameplate, but now the revamped 159 range most definitely also delivers when it comes to performance, luxury, refinement and affordability. We are really pleased to be able to add excellent
value for money to the 159 equation. New engines, new trim levels, new market positioning and a new price make the new 159 an unbeatable package.”

More Power

Under the excellent exterior of the 159, Alfa Romeo offers a choice of two engines that guarantees satisfaction. The refreshed 159 is now available with a brand new engine: a 1750 cc turbocharged petrol unit that conforms to Euro 5 standards and develops 147 kW between 4,750 and 5,500 rpm with 320 Nm of torque at only 1,400 rpm.

The new 1750 cc turbo petrol engine (manufactured by FPT – Fiat Powertrain Technologies) comes mated to a six-speed manual gearbox and boasts advanced ignition control solutions including direct fuel injection, two continuously variable valve timing units, a turbocharger and a revolutionary scavenging control system.
The resulting performance is comparable to – or better than – that of many 3 litre engines while still delivering fuel consumption typical of a compact four-cylinder unit. Although the 1750 TBi boasts a level of torque similar to that of a naturally aspirated V6, downsizing has made it possible to reduce weight by over 100 Kg, giving a further 25% improvement in acceleration.

This engine takes the Alfa Romeo 159, with its refined Italian styling and typical sporting elegance to
an impressive top speed of 235 km/h and propels it from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.7 seconds. Thanks to a two-stage fuel injection system with a high start pressure, a relatively small catalytic converter is sufficient to ensure conformity to Euro 5 standards, with positive effects on performances.

The second engine – Alfa Romeo’s sonorous V6 3.2-litre petrol engine pushing out 191 kW and a peak torque of 322 Nm at 4,500 rpm – is not new to the 159 range, but its application is. For the first time this sporty V6 is available without the Q4 all-wheel drive system when mated with the six-speed manual gearbox. When paired with the automatic 6-speed gearbox (also a first for this engine), the Q4 all-wheel drive system is standard.

The Alfa Romeo Q4 four wheel drive system splits torque constantly and dynamically between the four wheels, reaching the highest levels of active safety and sportiness. The Torsen C self-locking differential sends 57% drive torque to the rear wheels and 43% to the front. The system also guarantees excellent
traction in all grip conditions by automatically checking slip.

One could say that the Alfa 159 Q4 interprets four-wheel drive from the Alfa Romeo point of view: it is basically a “mechanical” system enhanced by cutting edge electronic technology to guarantee maximum comfort and entertainment, combined with superb performance and absolute safety.

Highlights of the 1750 TBi

The engine’s brilliant performance is largely the result of using advanced scavenging
technology to maximise torque even at very low revs and produce an incredibly rapid response to driver input.

Effective scavenging is achieved by monitoring and optimising, instant by instant, the engine operating parameters of fuel dosage, valve, ignition and injection timing. In practice, the new valve timing system
defines valve overlap angles and times with extreme precision, generating a direct flow of air from the intake manifold to the exhaust manifold and driving the turbocharger in ultra-short times. This new system therefore makes far better use of the turbocharger than conventional turbo petrol engines, producing
torque 70% greater than that of a conventional turbo petrol engine. Response times have also been more than halved, closely approaching those of a naturally aspirated engine.

Direct injection reduces temperature in the combustion chamber through fuel evaporation and dramatically reduces any tendency towards detonation. This allows superior performance to be achieved even at quite
high compression ratios (around 9.5) and guarantees low fuel consumption at partial throttle settings.

Continuously variable valve timing units on the intake and exhaust cams optimise valve timing at all engine speeds and loads, minimising both fuel consumption and exhaust emissions. By linking the two valve timing units with the turbocharger, the engine’s ECU can implement a constantly ideal scavenging strategy and establish ideal valve opening and closing overlap. When the driver demands a sudden increase in torque, the
system ensures rapid response even at low revs.

The engine is fitted with a latest generation turbocharger linked with an innovative pulse converter exhaust manifold that uses exhaust pressure waves to optimise torque at low engine speeds. Both the manifold and the
turbocharger itself are made from microfused steel to withstand the very high operating temperatures (up to 1020 °C) needed to reduce fuel consumption under medium high speed and motorway driving conditions.
The entire engine has been designed to minimise power losses through friction. The pistons feature rings with low tangential load and are made from advanced, low wear materials. The cylinder head incorporates roller rocker arms that have reduced sliding contact losses at 2000 rpm by 65% compared to the old Twin Spark cylinder heads. Optimised crank design based on a very long con-rod but a moderately short piston stroke has cut to a minimum the high speed vibrations normally associated with straight four engines. This has enabled balancer shafts to be dispensed with, further improving fuel consumption.

Highlights of the 3.2 V6 24v

The 3.2 V6 engine features an exhaust system that envisages a first group of catalysing elements
relatively close to the cylinder heads to reduce the emissions level at the start of operation. Two
catalysts under the floorpan and four lambda probes complete the system, so that the engine respects
Euro 4 limits without adopting special systems such as secondary air or electric heating.

Another feature of the 3.2 V6 engine is the direct injection system (the fuel is supplied directly to the combustion chamber) whose main advantage is that it improves evaporation and this increases the engine’s
volumetric efficiency. As a result, the supply of air and petrol is both denser and colder, which allows the compression ratio to be increased to 11.25, even with an octane index of 95 RON; a high compression ratio is useful because it makes it possible to increase both the performance and the energy efficiency of the
engine. Ignition is provided by a single sparkplug per cylinder. Direct injection combined with 4-valve-per-cylinder geometry creates a mix that tends to be more concentrated at the centre of the combustion chamber.
The ignition system fits a single ignition coil per cylinder.

Other highlights include: twin overhead camshaft with low friction drive; double continuous variable valve timing on the inlet and exhaust; cylinder head in light aluminium alloy; hydraulic tappets with automatic
play uptake; crankcase in light aluminium alloy; maintenance-free timing gear drive chain; Poly V automatic tensioner belt to drive the engine accessories; double knock sensor to improve knock sensitivity and to optimise peak performance; high performance exhaust manifold with builtin pre-catalysts; minimum
maintenance and low specific consumption and emissions.

The ‘Q-Tronic’ automatic sixspeed transmission (optional on the new 159 3.2 V6 Distinctive)
allows the car to be driven in automatic mode with all the functions typical of an automatic transmission (parking, reverse, neutral and drive) or in sequential mode by simply moving the selector. When the 3.2 Distinctive is specified with the autobox, the Q4 all-wheel drive system is part of the standard package.

The ‘Q-Tronic’ name continues the Alfa Romeo tradition of using the letter ‘Q‘ to indicate the most sophisticated technology developed by the Company: from the famous Quadrifoglio to the
‘Q4’ of the permanent four wheel drive to the very recent ‘Q2’ for the front wheel drive. The term
Tronic indicates that the system is controlled by a smart electronic control unit that governs
optimum gear shifts.

More Kit

To coincide with these drivetrain changes, Alfa Romeo has introduced a new range structure which now features three trim levels – Progression, Distinctive and Ti. All 159s are 5-star EuroNCAP rated and feature
seven airbags including a driver’s kneebag, isofix attachments on the rear seats, follow-me-home headlights as well as a full complement of active safety kit including Stability Control or VDC, Traction Control or ASR, BAS with EBD and Hill Holder. Electronic Q2 is standard on the 1750 TBi models.

The Progression trim level is available exclusively on the 1750 TBi and it offers drivers sporty
upgrades including double chrome exhaust pipes, 17-inch spokedesign alloy wheels, front foglights
and halogen headlights. Moving indoors some of the highlights of the 1750 TBi Progression include an electronic key with start button, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, sport ‘3D’ fabric upholstery, trip computer and leather multifunction steering wheel (with leather knob).

The new Distinctive Trim on the 3.2 (manual and auto) adds additional style to the already highly specified Progression equipment, including electrically folding heated wing mirrors, interior trim inserts in black aluminium, leather/fabric combo upholstery, sports instrumentation with white backlighting and
multifunctional display, Blue&Me hands-free communication system with USB port, the Visibility pack (rain sensor, light sensor and electrochromatic mirror) as well as sports leather steering wheel and gear knob with black stitching.

The new TI outfit tops the range, available with both engines (manual only). Only a small
number of Alfa Romeos have ever carried the famous two-letter designation, TI. Short for Turismo
Internazionale, the TI badge is now available on both engine versions. The range-enhancing Alfa 159 TI
line-up benefits from a unique body kit that comprises a special TI exhaust, lowered sports set-up with red Brembo brake calipers featuring Alfa Romeo designation, sports skirts and 18” turbinedesign alloy wheels with matt black finish. Ringing the changes inside are extra adjustment for recline angle on the front seats, sill
inserts with the TI decal, sports pedals and aluminium heel guard, sports leather/alcantara upholstery,
heated front seats as well as sports leather steering wheel and gear knob with red stitching.

Alfa Romeo – Without heart we would be mere machines.
